Portfolio – Marcie

After much planning, Marcie and I were finally able to match up our schedules and get together for her portfolio photo shoot at my studio here in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  The plan for our shoot was to get a nice new variety of images to add to Marcie's existing portfolio, and give it a little update.  With make-up artist Hanna Wagner on board, we set out to complete four different looks. Marcie has a certain sparkle in her eyes when she smiles.  And she smiles a lot.  But, there is still that hint of excitement in her eyes when she's not smiling as well.  This ease in front of the camera...

Portfolio – Bonnie

Bonnie 1b

Due to some schedule conflicts between Bonnie and myself, it took us a while to collaborate on the final choice of images from our shoot.  So, in all honesty, it has been quite a while since the day we actually had Bonnie in front of my camera.  What I do remember, however, is that our photo shoot went very smoothly!  Bonnie was a wonderful professional, with a great vision for how she wanted to look in the final product.  Bonnie had recently shot in NYC for a very well known brand book, and this experience certainly shown through during our little shoot.  And even with the amount of time...

New Face – Thell

Thell 1b

Fun and full of energy, not to mention her big curly hair...  Thell's photo shoot was a joy!  She was laid back and comfortable in front of the lens, especially considering her young age.  With a great start to her portfolio and the great vibes, she's sure to be successful.  Her big smile is infectious.  Given how easy she was to work with, I'm pretty sure we finished her portfolio shoot in record time.  She delivered her energy frame after frame, making it easy for me to capture some great images. In these images you can see her heart shining through.  You just wanna be there smiling...

Portfolio – Kim

Kim 5b

With Kim's motley experiences in entertainment, she was no stranger to the spotlight.  Kim is a professional, and an entertainer at heart, which made photographing her portfolio a breeze!  It was a full staff at the studio with Latesha Lipscomb (I Got Face Cosmetics Concierge) working hair and make-up and Dan Parker (DPark Fashion) as our wardrobe stylist. I am often working with new models, and because of that am typically working solo.  I have to say that the buzz and energy of a fully staffed studio is far more exciting, enjoyable, and sure does make my job easier!  I definitely encourage...

New Face – Breann

Breann 1b

The photo shoot with new Matthew Agency model Breann was easy enough with a laid back model, great weather, and a conveniently available mound of balloons.  But it wasn't until I began retouching her images today that I truly realized how easy shooting Breann ultimately turned out to be! Of course, I'm speaking of her flawless complexion!  Barely a blemish in sight, and hardly any work for me to do in post production.  Even the most brilliant of models will need a little touch-up when zoomed in to 100%, but here, it was barely necessary.  With all things considered, I am very proud to introduce...

Portfolio – Ondrea

Ondrea 1b

One of the most stunning attributes of Ondrea are her piercing blue eyes.  During our photo shoot, her bright eyes and her bright personality shone in every frame I took.  She has an infectious smile, one we could hardly suppress from click to click of the camera.  Naturally, this made our shoot a pleasure! We kept things pretty simple.  Most of our photo shoot took place right here in the studio (in downtown Grand Rapids).  Styling and hair/make-up were natural.  Of course we had to shake things up a little for our final look, a little more drama and an abandoned warehouse near by finished...

Portfolio – Jeremiah

Jeremiah 4b

I've worked with Jeremiah on a couple of shoots so far.  His calm demeanor makes him very easy to work with, so I was very happy when he came to me to shoot his portfolio.  If I remember correctly, the weather was perfect for a photo shoot.  We captured a few studio shots and then headed out to some great locations around downtown Grand Rapids. The goal, of course, of a portfolio shoot is to create multiple looks.  The studio, the structured cement of the Grand Rapids Art Museum, and the over-grown weeds of an abandoned factory provided our back drops.  That's the easy part about photo...

Portfolio – Brianna

Brianna1b

Brianna has been in front of my lens before, and so it was no surprise that she was confident and ready to shoot!  Of course, from what I know of her already in our experience together at the Matthew Agency, she is a confident individual regardless.  She was strong and happy in front of the camera.  Our photo shoot was a breeze, and we flew through looks. We were able to capture a solid variety of images, which is the goal of any portfolio shoot.  It helped that Brianna had a solid idea of the looks she wanted to achieve.  We laughed a lot, got to enjoy one of the last warm days of the year,...

Marathon Shoot

Introducing the Marathon Photo Shoot by Jerrad Matthew.  The idea, get multiple models together on one day.  Save the models money, save the photographer time!  For this inaugural marathon shoot, I took a giant give directly into the deep in, with 10 models booked!  Now, THAT is a marathon! All things considered, I am very excited how all of these images turned out!  It doesn't hurt that I'm shooting the amazing models of The Matthew Agency, Inc.  We're so proud at the agency that our roster is expanding with more and more phenomenal talent!  Some of these models below have been with...

Steph – Portfolio

Steph is a relatively new model at the Matthew Agency, but she worked her portfolio photo shoot like a pro.  I have been so lucky as a photographer to continually work with such professional acting and versatile talent, and it gives me great pride knowing they are all represented by my agency.  Steph was prepared for everything I threw at her during the shoot... from not allowing herself to blend into the background when I matched her black shirt with my black back drop, to rocking out huge hair and heavy blue eye make-up (Courtesy of the Douglas J Aveda Institute).  With a great collaboration...
